Blogging - Written Words - The Art of Blogging - The Art of Writing

The Art of Blogging

This is my very first attempt to write a proper blogger blog...in English. First, Let me introduce myself. I am a post-graduate with a computer science background. I previously worked in the IT and BPO sectors. For the last few years, I have been trying to make a living as a writer. I must confess that I only met with moderate success.

I am a long way away from becoming a freelancer I suppose. Becoming a freelancer was my initial goal. But, I am learning the hard way that it is a difficult target to achieve. The competition in the online market is very severe. The demands for English proficiency, grammatical accuracy, and superior writing skills are also very high.

Since, my writing experience is generic, you can call me a content mill writer I guess. I think one of my flaws is not having an organized reading habit. I tend to read haphazardly on various subjects without any sense of direction or purpose. But, I do shy away from describing myself as a jack of all trades. My skill sets are, I am sorry to say, quite minimal.

I can handle the computer and the keyboard. I use email and carry out web searches without too much trouble. I type very fast and have a good accuracy rate as well. Till now, I have only used Ms-Word to submit all my written works. They include SEO articles, blogs, and content for website landing pages. I also collated information for an educational website for a while. I also remember setting a few questionnaires for the aforementioned website.

My previous blogging efforts have all been as a ghost or guest writer. I always try my best not to plagiarize content. I research the web and try to come up with my own descriptions and narratives. I never copy-paste work, but I must confess I did spin articles in the past. But I make sure that I only take the informative parts of the existing content, and add my own thoughts to them.

Since I do not have a background in English literature or the arts, writing is something I try to do. I do not consider myself to be very skilled or proficient in this department. Of late, I am making an effort to read more about blogging, freelancing, and writing related skills. I remember back when I was in college, or may be after I finished it, someone suggested to me that I should try and become a technical writer. But I did not give too much importance to writing back then.
